Ms. Marta Serwatko is a PhD student at the RU Department of Engineering.

She has over five years of experience within the field of sleep medicine and scientific sleep research, she has worked as a sleep technologist, both a Landspitali and RU. Ms. Serwatko holds a BSc (2013) and MSc (2016) degree in Biomedical Engineering from Reykjavik University. She is also a board member of the Icelandic Sleep Research Society.
Her main research interests include sleep research and how the design and implementation of biomedical devices and techniques may help to improve medical diagnosis. The fundamental component of her PhD thesis is the scientific investigation of how and to what degree the disturbed sleep, due to decreased respiration, affects both adults and children, and further, what are the health consequences. Then the main goal is to improve human sleep.
